MIDEAST TURMOIL

The world has been stunned by the events of the last month regarding the war in northern Israel and southern Lebanon. I have consulted numerous blogs concerning the matter but found nothing of substance which would lead to an understanding of what is going on, what the consequences will be and who will pay the consequences.

The current war in Palaestine is the tenth war Israel has fought since 1948.

WORLD WAR III - Some are saying that the military action in what is generally called the "holy land", will lead to a world war, perhaps the last and which could bring the "end of the world." Even Newt Gingrich, former legislator and otherwise well-informed person has used the term and the Media has followed, but no precise definition has been given.

The fact of the matter is that we are NOT facing W.W. III. On Tuesday of this past week (August 8), I publically stated that the military action in Palestine would not lead to a world war. In the meantime, an agreement has been signed by the U.N. for a cease-fire, and at this writing, it seems it will be accepted and followed by the parties involved.

THE NEXT WAR - The next MAJOR engagement will follow a time of general peace in the mideast region, though it does not seem like it now. The length of that period is unknown. No one should speculate. The war referred to has been prophesied in the Holy Bible, about 2,600 years ago. It will be an invasion of a peaceful Israel, by a coalition or axis of powers surrounding the small nation of Israel.

Three of the countries are already in place: Iran(Persia), Russia, and Syria. All three have already contributed heavily to the efforts of Hezbollah, both materially and by encouragement. Russia has sent over 200 nuclear experts to help Iran with its nuclear program. They have also been dredging out a port on the Mediterranean so that its ships can enter.

ISRAEL'S ENEMIES - They have vowed to destroy the nation, but that will not happen for God has a plan for His chosen people. Israel will remain long after all of its present days enemies are destroyed. You can study what God's long-ranged plan is for Israel in Romans, chapters 9 to 11.

TEMPORARY PEACE - There will a period of peace before the coalition invades Israel. That is explained in Ezekiel 39. Israel will not have to militarily destroy its enemies but the living God, Jehovah, will intervene and destroy them by natural means. Read Ezekiel 36-37 for some prophecies already fulfilled and chapters 38 and 39 for the coming invasion of Israel.

LASTING PEACE - The U.N. has declared its desire for a lasting peace and that is commendable, but it will not occur until Jesus Christ comes back to earth.

ANOTHER WAR - A few years after the future invasion of Israel there will be a great war and indeed worldwide in scope. A major player will be antichrist, a real man, who seeks to rule the world with Europe behind him and will will demand worship as a god. He, his armies and other military expeditions will be destroyed at the battle of Armageddon. That battle will be won by Jesus Christ when He comes to establish and enforce peace in the world. That period will be truly a lasting peace that will endure for 1,000 years.
