JE PENSE DONC JE SUIS

Many people have studied the French language, and even others know enough to understand the phrase, "Je pense, donc je suis." Those words which serve as the title of my blog were written by the philosopher and mathematician, René Descartes (1596-1650). It simply means, "I can think, thus I exist."

Those words were the result of his development of a logical system of distinct and clear thought, based on deduction. He, then, arrived at the conclusion that the ability to reason proves one's existence. That was not really difficult to notice.

From there, Descartes developed his classic proof of the existence of God. There are a number of other proofs of God's existence. I am convinced that by the title "God", he meant the Jehovah of the Old Testament, and His Son, Jesus Christ of the New Testament.

Modern man would do well to go at least as far as Descartes did.

I hope you will enjoy my blog and get some ideas from it. Check out the Archives, also.
